Swirl marks, scratches, water spots, and oxidation make even a well-maintained car look tired. Our paint correction specialists use machine polishing to restore your finish to a level of clarity and depth that no amount of washing or waxing can achieve.
Paint correction is the process of removing imperfections from your vehicle's clear coat using machine polishing. Over time, your paint accumulates swirl marks from improper washing, light scratches from road debris, water spots from hard water or sprinklers, and oxidation from UV exposure. These defects scatter light instead of reflecting it cleanly, which is why damaged paint looks dull and hazy even right after a wash.
During paint correction, a trained specialist uses a dual-action or rotary polisher with carefully selected cutting compounds and polishing pads to level the clear coat. This removes a microscopic layer of damaged material, revealing the smooth, undamaged paint beneath. The result is a mirror-like finish with deep reflections and rich color that makes your vehicle look better than it has in years.
Paint correction is not the same as applying a glaze or filler product that temporarily hides imperfections. Those products wash away. Correction permanently removes the defects from the surface. Once corrected, the results last until new damage is introduced.
Not every vehicle needs the same level of work. We offer two levels of paint correction depending on the condition of your paint:
We assess your paint under high-intensity LED lighting before starting. This reveals every defect in the clear coat and allows us to recommend the right level of correction for your situation. There are no surprises, and we will be straightforward about what paint correction can and cannot fix. Deep scratches that have penetrated through the clear coat into the base paint, for example, typically need touch-up paint rather than polishing.
Those spider-web patterns you see in direct sunlight are swirl marks, usually caused by automatic car washes, dirty towels, or improper washing technique. They are the most common paint defect and one of the easiest to correct.
Austin's hard water leaves mineral deposits on paint, especially if your car sits near sprinklers. Left untreated, these spots etch into the clear coat. Early-stage water spots polish out completely. Deeper etching may require multi-stage correction.
Years of Texas sun exposure causes the clear coat to oxidize, turning paint chalky and dull. This is especially noticeable on red, black, and dark-colored vehicles. Paint correction removes the oxidized layer and brings back the original depth of color.
Every paint correction job follows a careful sequence to ensure safe, consistent results:
The full process takes anywhere from half a day for a single-stage correction to a full day or more for multi-stage work on larger vehicles. We work on-site at your location throughout Austin and the surrounding areas, including Westlake Hills, Lakeway, Round Rock, and Cedar Park.
